In response to the party's key officials, including Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, and Azam Swati, willingly turning themselves into law enforcement, Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) launched its "Jail Bharo Tehreek" (court arrest movement) on Wednesday from Lahore.

The "court arrest" campaign was started in opposition to "violations of fundamental rights," "abuse of the Constitution," "extraordinary inflation," and "economic collapse."

Up to 200 leaders and workers for the "Jail Bharo Movement" would surrender today, per Imran Khan's orders.

In the first phase, former governor of the Punjab Umar Cheema, senator Walid Iqbal, former minister of the Punjab Murad Raas, and PTI ticket holders Muhammad Madni and Fawad Bhalar, among others, would turn themselves in.

Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and a former prime minister, stated that PTI was launching the "Jail Bharo Tehreek" for two key reasons.

Imran Khan stated on Twitter that the effort to achieve "Haqeeqi Azadi" [true independence] had two primary goals.

One, it is a peaceful, non-violent protest against the assault on our constitutionally protected fundamental rights, he continued, noting that the PTI leaders were the subjects of false corruption allegations and FIRs.

Mr. Khan claims government policies have crushed the poor and middle class, increasing unemployment and skyrocketing prices.

The movement was "against the economic catastrophe brought on the gang of thieves who have money laundered billions in looted riches & gotten NROs for themselves," he continued.

The ex-premier additionally urged people to take to the streets for "real freedom" in a video message posted on PTI's official Twitter account.

According to the party's schedule, the court arrest drive will begin in Peshawar on February 23, following Lahore. Following Rawalpindi on February 24 are Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Multan, Rawalpindi, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala. On March 1, Faisalabad will formally join the movement.
