More precipitation is predicted for western Wisconsin and parts of Minnesota. This winter, the eighth snowiest on record for the Twin Cities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, has already produced 80 inches of snow.
Hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses lost power when a series of hurricanes struck the United States quickly, killing at least 13 people. Meanwhile, California is preparing for another winter storm predicted to hit the state on Monday night.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), up to 10 inches of snow may fall on Monday in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. High winds will accompany its arrival, raising the possibility of airline delays and power outages throughout the Northeast. Commuters may have a difficult drive home because the storm is predicted to bring rain Tuesday morning and heavy snow later in the day.
The state has been devastated by the winter storm. In Victorville, firefighters reported one driver died when their car was submerged, while in Los Angeles, downed power lines were hit by cars and electrocuted a guy who subsequently died in the hospital.
Numerous pictures of guardsmen rescuing citizens caught in their half-flooded cars have appeared on social media. Several towns' residents, mostly in the north, have been told to leave.
