The Mozambique president expresses support for Saudi Arabia's bid to host Expo 2030

The bid by Saudi Arabia to host the World Expo 2030 has received the approval of Mozambique according to President Filipe Nyusi of that nation. Nyusi made the following statement in a video after his official visit to the Kingdom: We are with you for everything and we are with you now also for Expo 2030.

On Saturday the president met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss bilateral relations the potential for cooperation and matters of mutual concern. Nyusi called his visit unique and mentioned that when he was in the Kingdom he spoke about economic collaboration in the energy, agriculture and tourism industries. He lauded the leadership of the Kingdom for its knowledge and vision saying Mozambique was eager to learn from it.

Saudi Arabia officially sent its detailed application in an effort to be elected as the host country for the World Expo 2030 in Riyadh in September 2022. The theme of the World Expo that the Kingdom plans to host in Riyadh from 1st October 2030 through 31 March 2031 is The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow.


According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) if elected the Riyadh Expo 2030 would give the Kingdom an opportunity to convey the history of its remarkable national transformation to people and other nations around the world. The official welcome comes as Riyadh's application maintains its backing from the King's leadership, the commitment of all government agencies to work together and the support of Saudi society.


Since 1851 there have been multiple World Expos the most recently of which is being hosted by UAE which was selected on 27 November 2013. More than 1.47 million people have visited Expo 2020 Dubai in the first 24 days since it opened to the public on 1st October. During the same time frame 10.8 million people visited virtually. "Connecting Minds Creating the Future" is the slogan for Expo 2020 and the three thematic districts are sustainability, mobility and opportunity. Also the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region is hosting it for the first time.
