Mike Pence said the extreme left would be politically motivated to arrest President Trump.

The former president said on his Truth Social platform that "unlawful leaks" from the Manhattan district attorney's office showed he would be jailed for providing hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Assaulting and detaining Donald Trump would be "politically motivated" and, "tell you everything you need to know about the extremist left," according to Mike Pence. The former vice president reacted angrily to news that Mr. Trump will be detained on Tuesday for payments made to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, actresses of adult films, as hush money.

The former vice president reacted angrily to news that Mr. Trump will be detained on Tuesday for payments made to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, actresses of adult films, as hush money. Mr. Pence stated that charging a former US President astonished him at a time when the crime was on the rise in New York City. "I think the fact that the Manhattan DA [district attorney] believes that charging President Trump is his main priority says everything you need to know about the radical left in this country," said the author. The White House occupant under Donald Trump from 2017 to 2021, Mr. Pence, continued, "It simply feels like a politically tinged prosecution here." After claiming he would be arrested on Tuesday, Mr. Trump, 76, received a standing ovation as he arrived at a wrestling competition in Oklahoma on Saturday night. The former president, escorted by his security detail and wearing his signature blue suit and red tie, was applauded by the audience as he made his way to his seat. He previously claimed that "illegal leaks" from the Manhattan district attorney's office suggested he might be charged. Mr. Trump asserted his Truth Social platform but offered no proof that he had been directly told of an impending arrest. He also omitted to explain how he learned of such intentions. Authorities are getting ready for what may be Mr. Trump's indictment as early as next week. According to Chris Sununu, the governor of New Hampshire, the prospective indictment is gaining support for Mr. Trump. The moderate Republican, considering seeking the party's presidential nomination, told CNN he had spoken to several people who were not "huge Trump supporters, but they all indicated ... they felt he was being targeted". When asked about Mr. Trump's claim, the former president's spokeswoman and the Manhattan district attorney's office declined to comment. The Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, is investigating whether 2016 payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal violated state law. Michael Cohen, a former Trump lawyer, has revealed before a grand jury in Manhattan, saying to have organized payments to the women to remain silent about alleged sexual contact with Mr. Trump. Also, it's been reported that Mr. Bragg's office is looking into Cohen's pay from Mr. Trump's business. After acknowledging paying the payments, Cohen was fined three years in prison. He also confessed to lying to Congress about the depth of contacts between the Trump Organization and a plan to build a Trump Tower in Russia. He also admits to evading taxes. According to Cohen, Mr. Trump instructed him to pay Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal $280,000 (£230,000), but the former president dismissed the order.
